Coastal Weather is a creative project inspired by feelings of nostalgia from my hometown Salinas, CA. Growing up on the coast I was lucky enough to be influenced by so many creative people through out my life. From a young age, I watched my mom take on sewing projects and crafts at the kitchen table. Ranging from gifts for friends, items to sell, or something to wear for me and my sister. My sister was always a big creative influence on me as well. Not only was she an artist whose doodles I would often try to replicate, she was a real punk before HotTopic. Her style, fashion sense, and taste in music inspired me to be different. She made her own fashion by cutting up old shirts, adding safety pins and studs to everything, dying her hair, and my mom made her skirts. This is a love letter to those memories.
